Martha Evelyn Murphree, 83, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 12, 1941, in Chickasaw County to Floyd and Edith Wright. A 1960 graduate of Vardaman High School, she married J.D. Murphree shortly after graduation. She worked at Gleen Slacks, Kellwood, and Brookwood before taking a chance and opening her own business, The House of Styles, in Bruce, MS, which she operated for 34 years. She was also a very successful Mary Kay sales consultant for many years. She enjoyed meeting and caring for her customers from Bruce and several surrounding towns throughout the years.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, J.D. Murphree, one son, Terry Murphree (Lisa), her grandchildren, Amanda Pearson (Trey), Stephanie Duncan (Steve), and Jesse Murphree (Karlee Manues), her great-grandchildren, Bentley Pearson, John-Luke Pearson, Rylee Duncan, Lane Duncan, and Finley Duncan, her sister, Patsy Callahan (Dale), and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Jesse, Edward, W.B., and Melvin Wright, and Sue Lovvorn.

Funeral Services will be 2PM Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Jon Haimes officiating. Visitation will begin at 12PM. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Mark Huffman, Mike Callahan, Steve, Duncan, Trey Pearson, Bobby Wright, and Bentley Pearson.
