Marti Tucker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2025.
Marti Lloyd Tucker UPPER Saint Peter left the light on and Marti found her way last Sunday afternoon. Fearless and bold until her final breath, she leaves behind a world and family that was touched by her passion and love of life.

Born to Gertrude Lillard and William Lloyd in 1944, she was a Galveston Native and first generation American. A proud BOI, Marti was a 1962 graduate of Galveston's Ursuline Academy and 1966 graduate of Sam Houston State University.

Returning to the place she knew as home, she began her career of touching others' lives as a social worker for Texas Child Protective Services. During this time, she met the love of her life, her James Dean, and father of her two sons, Wayne Tucker. For the next forty plus years, Marti and Wayne would embark on countless adventures through their friends, family, and travels - a partnership that withstood struggles and setbacks, bent but never broke, and lasted until Wayne skipped the line to heaven on her birthday in 2021.

Marti put her career on hold to support Wayne's business venture, Tucker's First Stop, and become a full-time mother to two sons, Travis and Justin. Through the small business, the Tuckers touched thousands of lives and remained a tight family along their journey together.

As the boys grew, Marti returned to work in a number of social worker type roles where she could fight the good fight for those that couldn't do it for themselves - a quality that she passed on to her sons, one of which pursued a career in education to continue the same fight and pursuit of social justice. She was retired for nearly twenty years at the time of her passing, a stretch that brought on a whole new chapter of excitement and adventure - a love of gardening, travel, her beloved Galveston beaches, and her canine companions.

Marti was survived by her two sons, two daughters Sherrie Schneider and Leah Tucker, granddaughter Lori Pikulski, and great-grandson, Luke Pikulski.

The family has dedicated a site to her and asks that those that knew Marti visit the page, take a look at the memories the family shared, and leave one of their own - a photo or positive message about their relationship with her - the link is https://www.forevermissed.com/martitucker.

A fall ceremony is being planned to celebrate her life with friends and family - information will be shared by her family through FaceBook and the Forever Missed webpage linked above.
