Martin Edward Jacob, 52, of Sylvania, unexpectedly died March 11, 2016, at The University of Toledo Medical Center. Martin was born April 11, 1963, in Toledo.
A Rogers High School graduate, Martin then entered the work force in the vocational trades area.
Martin was a genuine people person. He was known to create friendships in many venues. Listening to music, especially hard rock, was a true passion of his. He appreciated his participation in art classes. Martin also followed the Toledo Mud Hens and the Toledo Walleye. However, Martin's enthusiasm to play backgammon was his favorite hobby. He often would spend time with young children as he taught them how to play the game.
Volunteering his time at Goodwill in Toledo and the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio were other selfless activities that filled Martin's time. He also treasured his time at various retreats with Joy People.
Martin was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jacob; his aunt, Joyce Cavallaro; his grandparents, Martin and Mary Jacob; and his grandparents, Helen and Edward Roman.
Surviving Martin are his mother, Nancy Hinebaugh; stepfather, Denny Hinebaugh; sister, Michelle (Dave) Sontag; brother, Matt (Ann) Jacob; brother, Michael Jacob; stepbrother, Brian (Debbie) Hinebaugh; stepsister, Jodie (Bill) Spackey; along with nine nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, Ohio. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sylvania.
The family would like to thank Heatherdowns Rehabilitation Center and The University of Toledo Medical Center for their dedication to Martin.
