Martin Thomas Kehoe, 77, a resident of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003, at Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Kehoe was born August 23, 1925, in West Orange, New Jersey, son of Thomas William Kehoe and Marguerite Hartman Kehoe. Mr. Kehoe was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After completing his service as a US Naval Officer, he obtained his accounting education at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Kehoe was a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG for thirty-one years in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Before retiring in 1980, Martin served as the Managing Partner of the Charlotte office for over ten years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a President of the Charlotte Chapter.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of Goodwill, Inc.
Martin was a long time Belmont Abbey College supporter. He chaired the finance committee and served as a member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Belmont Abbey. During this time, he and his wife, Irene, established the Martin T. and Irene K. Kehoe Scholarship Fund in accounting. In 1990, he was the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Laws from Belmont Abbey.
An avid sports enthusiast and former golfer, Martin enjoyed many years as a member of Quail Hollow Country Club.
Martin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Kelley Kehoe; his son, Thomas M. Kehoe and his wife Jennie M. Kehoe of Charlotte; his daughter, Patrice I. Kehoe and her husband W. C. Richardson and their three children, Eva, Will, and Anna Richardson of University Park, MD; his daughter, Kathleen A. Kehoe of Charlotte; and his son, James R. Kehoe and his wife Lisa K. Kehoe and their two daughters, Olivia and Grace Kehoe of Charlotte. Also surviving is his sister, Marguerite K. Pace of Raleigh, and his niece, Patricia P. Doyle of Cary. He was preceded in death by his son, John E. Kehoe.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2003, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with the Reverend Christopher M. Gober, Celebrant. The inurnment will be held in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service in the narthex of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Holy Angels, 6600 East Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, NC 28012 or St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.

I send my deepest sympathy to the family of Martin T. Kehoe. Mr. Kehoe hired me in 1970 and I am still with the firm today. I always admired him and he had a great impact on my life. I have all of the family in my prayers at this time.
