I belatedly learned of Marty's death and send you my belated message of sympathy. Marty was a wonderful warm human being, superb musician, and great friend. He was a mentor when I was in a performance with him. I will greatly miss being an occasional 4th at the bridge table

Dear Daniel,
I am so very sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I have such fond memories of conversations with him when visiting your house..... He was a kind, generous, and compassionate human being who had a gift for making you feel at ease immediately. And so much fun! You and your mom were the light of his life. My deepest condolences.

Daniel,
I wanted to convey my sympathy to you over your father. I had many voice lessons with your mom. I remember you as a 5 year old, what a cute boy you were, you are the same age as my son. Your father was always so friendly, kind, and just an all around nice man. I loved both of your parents. I lost my husband four years ago, the grieving and the missing never really
goes away. I miss your mom especially.
I went to see your father 3 years ago
he took me to lunch and it was so nice just to sit and talk with him. He had a deep missing of your mom,(he told me I was a good driver). Keep them alive to yourself from your memories and photos and pass that along to your son. God bless and keep Daniel Lerner and his family. It was my good fortune in life to be in both of your parents company.

The internet was made for Marty. Jokes, their sending and receiving, he excelled at. Equally, and more so, when a friend would turn to him, he drew on a deep well of empathy and understanding. He didn't hesitate, he gave. So long, old pal.

Dear Daniel,
We are so sorry to hear about Marty's passing. We remember him with great fondness with his ready smile and a twinkle in his eye. His advice to Mimi and myself when we first started flying to New York from Pgh together for voice lessons was invaluable. We miss them both. Our condolences to you and the rest of your family.

I was a voice student of Mimi's but always thought of Marty as a mentor as well. He was so generous with his wisdom and humor. He will be missed.

I am sending my sincere sympathy to Marty's family. As a former staff member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Administration in the 70's and 80's, I well remember Marty as a wonderful musician and great and fun person. May he rest in God's peace and love along with his beloved Mimi. They are both greatly missed. Sincerely,

To the Lerner family; Marty was a wonderful person and I've treasured every moment of knowing him. He will be sorely missed but, we can comfort in the thought that he is now with his angel Mimi again. That is truly a blessing. His, as is Mimi's memory, will live on in our hearts until we all meet again. Rest in peace dear friend.
