I love you, my best neighbor ever, Marty. I think of you often and our hours long conversations over the fence. One Love, my dear friend.

I just found out about this but I always had a wonderful time with Marty. I still have Billy Bird in my family. He and a daughter rescued the bird so Marty still lives with me. I will really miss the big Daylily Dig.

I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss. I was so sad when I walked into the ICU and saw that you all weren't there. Although I only spoke with Mr. Meagher briefly it was obvious how kind of a person he was. It was an honor to be able to care for him and a pleasure to meet you all. You have a wonderful family! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Kaye and Joey:
When your heart is empty, filling it with happy memories will help find your smile again. I have a piece of him in my garden too. Love you both. Rose

I am so lucky I got to have you as my grandpa. I will always remember going on garden tours and getting to peek at your clay sculptures in the basement. I always admired the passion you had for art and gardening and will try to live my life as passionately. Thank you for your humor, guidance, and love.
I will miss you.

Marty was the kind of work mate you always cherished. He kept us in stitches with his humor and always had a helping hand extended. I will always hold him fondly in my memory.

There are little things that will remind me of Mr. Meagher. The flower bulbs that he let me take from his garden on Comet before he moved. My did they come up wonderfully this spring. The other being his fast paced walk. I could not walk in the neighborhood because I was quickly put to shame of the excellent shape Mr. Meagher was in. He was a generous man and will be remembered always.

As I drove home into the Bissel Hills subdivision, I always admired the beautiful garden on Comet. I also walked early in the morning in the neighborhood and frequently saw a man who seemed to be the same man tending the garden. One morning I asked him if he was the gardener and he answered yes. I told him I liked to garden too...and thus began our friendship. Over the years Marty shared his love of gardening with me. He generously shared several of his hostas. In 2003 I moved to Florissant and many of the hostas went with me and are thriving to this day. I recently visited him (mid-April)at his new home and he enthusiastically gave me a tour of his new garden and all the plans he had to further develop it. I admired his energy! As I spend time in my garden I will fondly remember Marty and give a little extra TLC to the plants he gave me.

So sorry that Betty and I can't be there for the funeral to celebrate Marty's life. I worked with him at UE for about 30 yrs and considered him an outstanding engineer and a true friend. We worked on many projects together and traveled and lived together on many trips. I feel so fortunate to have had Marty in my life. My condolences to all the family and again, sorry we can't be there. God Bless

Oh, Dad. So much to be done, so little time. Hope we learned our lessons well and can live life and look forward to the future like you did. There are two huge, empty places in our hearts now. Weren't we lucky to have you and mom as our parents.

I am a drafter at Ameren (former Union Electric) and knew Marty. From an art lover and cartoonist myself I marveled at how fast he would come up with an appropriate cartoon that was both witty and true! Very talented! Marty was so sweet and modest and very helpful. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this sad time.

I'm so honored that I was able to bid for his last daylilies at the auction. I still have Billy Bird (for whichever daughter helped catch him). You always had an upbeat attitude and I admired you for it. I know you're at peace but I'll miss you lots. Love Pam WCDS

I worked with Marty at Union Electric (now Ameren) for just a short time before his retirement. He was a patient teacher and "gentle" man in every sense of the word. Whenever someone was retiring, I called Marty and he provided a hilarious cartoon. What a guy he was! How fortunate we were to have him. You are in my prayers

I met Marty at the West County Daylily Club, what a super man. We visited with each other over the last three to four years. He always talked about his wife and wonderful children. He being Irish and her being Italian and his in laws that he was close to sisters I think. At Christmas I took to him at the new house Italian cookies as I am Italian also. He was a real joy to be with and talk to and what a great wit of humor. Last I spoke to Marty was about 5 weeks ago I think. and he was ready for the daylilyes to start. I will miss his friendship and his wonderful knowledge quit a smart man and he will always be in my prayers.

To Marty, an Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
You will be greatly missed my friend.

We will miss you so much, grandpa. I loved seeing the movie--I had never seen many of those photos, and Elliot loved getting to see grandpa as a kid and young man. We will be thinking of him, and of the whole family. So many wonderful memories.

We miss you terribly Uncle Marty. We know you are gardening on a cloud with Aunt Vickie, though, and that brings a great smile to our faces. You are all in our thoughts and hearts. Much love from NM.
