Martin Tibbitts Obituary
Grosse Pointe Park - Martin Jay Tibbitts "Marty" passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, during a tragic plane crash in Sheboygan, WI. Outside of family and business, Marty had a passion for historic airplanes, travel, and adventure. He brought his big smile and fun demeanor everywhere he went. Marty is survived by his wife, Belinda Tibbitts, his children Mason (13) and Julia (12) Tibbitts, his stepdaughter, Cameron (13), his parents Larry and Carole Tibbitts, his siblings Shelly Tucker and JC Tibbitts, and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends who will miss his wonderful presence. Marty's family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and condolences. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made to the Stanford University Alzheimer's Research at https://makeagift.stanford.edu/get/page/makegift to further research for a disease that was of grave concern to Marty. Marty's loss is a tragedy for the metro Detroit aviation community. His passion for early post-war aircraft was in the best tradition of aviation preservation and his courage and fortitude set a high bar for those who are destined to follow.
