Age 86, of Squirrel Hill, on Friday, June 7, 2013. Beloved husband of Arlene; loving father of Brother David Trichtinger, F.S.C., Dr. Martin D. Trichtinger (Janice), Dr. John Trichtinger (Kathleen) and Mary Trichtinger Moore (James); loving grandfather of Timothy, Rachel, Jessica, Kevin, Kristen and Lauren Trichtinger and Brendan, Ryan, and Nicholas Moore; son of the late Martin and Teresa Trichtinger; brother of the late LaVerne Hughes (the late Francis), Rosemary Trichtinger and Eugene Trichtinger (survived by Delores); brother-in-law of Audrey Scholle Fusco; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Oakland on November 25, 1926, Martin graduated from Central Catholic High School, Duquesne University, and the University of Pittsburgh (M.A.) and did post-graduate work at Duquesne University, SUNY Buffalo, the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State. Martin taught at Central Catholic High School and Baxter and Knoxville Junior High Schools, was a teacher and guidance counselor at South Hills High School and Schenley High School Evening School, and a counselor at South High School. At the Pittsburgh Board of Education, he was Supervisor for Public School counselors and Social Workers, and Area Administrator of Pupil Services for Area III. Martin served as Test Administrator for Civil Service in Western Pennsylvania, and administrator for Real Estate Testing. He participated in NROTC at St. Mary's College (Emmitsburg, MD) and Villanova University, was on active duty in the Navy for 1944-1946, served in the Naval Reserve, and retired from the Navy with a rank of Lieutenant J.G. Martin played basketball at Mt. St. Mary's and coached basketball at Central Catholic and Knoxville Jr. H.S. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC. FUNERAL HOME, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral will commence on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bede Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Central Catholic Alumni Endowment Scholarship Fund, 4720 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

The officers and members of the Pittsburgh Chapter of School Retirees is saddened to learn of Marty's death. He had been a faithful member of the chapter for 29 years. He will be remembered for his dedication to the students of the Pittsburgh Public Schools, in the many capacities in which he served.

I am a 1962 graduate of SHHS and was lucky enough to be taught by a great, honorable, patient and caring teacher, Mr.T. I have never forgotten him and spoke highly of him thru the years.
