Marty Friedl

Marty Friedl, 80, passed away peacefully on May 19th 2025, surrounded by family. Born to Madeline and Edward Friedl on March 19th 1945, she was the sixth out of their eleven children. After graduation from St. Vincent High School in 1962, she worked for Ohio Edison Company, now known as FirstEnergy. She retired in December 2002 with 40 years of service and filled her time with local deliveries and shopping for elderly couples.

Throughout her life, Marty enjoyed participating in golf, softball, and bowling. In later years, she took up aerobics, weight classes, and yoga and joined the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, where she made many lifelong friends in her Zumba dance classes. Marty was known for her quiet demeanor, giving heart and enjoying the simple things in life. She enjoyed walking and walked until her legs gave out on her. She loved animals but they loved her more. She loved music and could always be found doing a small jig to a good beat, over the radio or live in concert. She was devoted to family and always made family gatherings a priority.

She is preceded in death by her parents Madeline and Edward, and brothers, Ed (Marg), Bob, and Joe. Marty is survived by her sisters, Barb, Loraine (Ray), Joanne (Ray), brothers, Richard (Patty), Roger (Barb), Greg (Debbie), Fred (Cindi), and many nieces (Including two that she grew to love very much, since they were born- Annie (Drew), and Regina), nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 27th 10:00-11:00 am followed by Mass of Christian burial, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. Akron, Ohio. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery following funeral services. In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
