Marty Jorgensen

Marty John Jorgensen was born on September 23, 1948 at Rochester, Minnesota. He was adopted by John and Lorraine (Yates) Jorgensen on August 10, 1955.

Marty graduated from Worthington High School in 1966. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball during his high school years. Marty was inducted into the Worthington High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.

Marty attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion until enlisting in the United States Navy in 1968. He served in the Navy Nuclear Power Program from 1968 to 1976 until his honorable discharge.

Marty married Jo Anne Rojas in 1970. Jo Anne passed away in June of 2009 after a long illness of cancer.

Marty worked in the Nuclear Power Industry until his retirement in 2013. He supported operations training in twelve nuclear facilities across the nation and after his retirement from Exelon he continued to do contract work for a few years. Marty made friends wherever he went, and these friendships continued throughout his life.

On May 5, 2016, Marty and Maxine Gaul were married at St. Columba Church in Iona, Minnesota. They made their home in Iona. Marty enjoyed golf, refinishing antiques, singing karaoke, golf, building bird houses, more golf, and spending his winters in Arizona with Maxine, and making new friends while golfing or singing.

Marty passed away at their winter home in Arizona on January 16, 2023, following a brief but intense battle with cancer.

Marty is survived by his loving wife, Maxine, his four children, Dawn (Sean Cagann) DeLeon, Avondale, AZ; Phillip (Yvette) Jorgensen, Pflugerville, TX; Nathan (Amy) Jorgensen, Cheyenne, WY; and Marty Jorgensen, Jr, Joplin, MO; sister: Mary Anne Linehan, Milltown, WI; brother-in-law, Bill Timmons, Shawnee, KS; Marty's grandchildren: Chris, Joshua, Stephanie, Taylor, Devon, Colten, Nicholas, Jessica, Haley, Austin, Spencer, Cameron, Corynn, Chelsey, Kanden, Preston and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Maxine's children and grandchildren, Brett and Anita Gaul, Sophia, Roman and August, Marshall, MN; Nicholas and Erin Gaul, Wilder and Sully, Baldwin, WI; and Katherine Gaul, Los Angeles, CA. Marty's sister, Wanda Timmons, passed away on April 22, 2023. Blessed be her memory.

A Celebration of Marty's Life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, 2:00 pm, at the Slayton Country Club Golf Course in Slayton, Minnesota. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Marty.
