Marty Toquam Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2015.
Marty Dale Toquam, 56, of Claremont, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care Center with his family by his side.

Marty was born May 5, 1958, in Owatonna, the son of Carroll and Sharon (Louks) Toquam. He grew up in rural Claremont and attended school in Claremont and West Concord. He then moved into REM group homes and worked with Opportunity Services who would help find various jobs for Marty. He retired due to health complications in 2013 and moved to Northfield.

He always had a smile and could tell you everything you wanted to know about the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings. He loved to spend time with his family, but also enjoyed peace and quiet. He participated in the Special Olympics and loved to bowl, watch sports, play cards, dance, ride four wheeler and listen to music.

He is survived by his parents, Carroll and Sharon Toquam of Claremont; two sisters, Lori (and Dan) Hodgman of Mantorville and Lisa (and Brian) Poe of Owatonna; and his nephews, Taylor and Tanner Hodgman, Nick, Travis and Trevor Poe; and nieces, Victoria Poe and Danika Hodgman.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home Friday, March 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service in the church.

The celebration of Marty's life will be held Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Brian Wright and Pastor Roy Morris officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont.

Memorials are preferred to Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church or Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care Center.
