Marvin Bybee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 4 to Mar. 6, 2008.
Marvin F. Bybee, age 77, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away at his home at 8:03 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, after a long illness. Born Dec. 30, 1930, in Windsor, Mo., he was the son of the late Hadley and Daisy Mothersbaugh Bybee and lived most of his lifetime in Jasper County, Mo. Marvin worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant at Parsons from 1967 until retiring as laboratories manager in 1994. He served from 1951 to 1955 in a patrol squadron in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran. A member of First Baptist Church, of Carl Junction, he also served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He loved the outdoors and also worked as a Missouri Conservation agent. In his spare time you could always find him creating beautiful works of art in his wood working shop. On July 23, 1950, he married Peggy J. Barham in Duenweg, Mo., and their honeymoon lasted over 57 years. She survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Mike Bybee and wife, Debbie, of Joplin, and David Bybee, of Joplin; two daughters, Lin Coady, of Carthage, and Nancy Harris and husband, Doug, of Leawood, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Kristin, Carson, Ashlee, Christopher, Rebecca, Sara and Austin; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jessica; and his buddy-cat, Andy. He considered all of his grandchildren wonderful gifts from God. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park with Christopher Bybee, R.C. Bechdoldt, Carson Coady, Brad Withenshaw, Doug Harris and Fred Sill serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, our family request you hug those close to you and remind them of your love.
