Marvin Himelfarb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2010.
Marvin Himelfarb, 86, passed away after battling Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on January 4, 2010 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Sam and Anna (Marwel) Himelfarb. He joined the U.S. Army Aircore during WWII, and then became a Brick Mason, then a Real Estate Developer. He changed careers in mid-life to become a Motel Owner. Eventually, he retired to enjoy the remainder of his years playing golf and drinking martinis.

Marvin loved life. He loved his family and friends. In the army, he won an award for doing 5000 situps. He was an accomplished bowler, fisherman, and golfer. He also enjoyed cooking and dining out. In the mornings, he looked forward to doing crossword puzzles and sudoku and comparing notes over the phone with his closest friend. To his family, he was "Dad" and "Grand-Marvin", and we love him dearly.

He is survived by his son Jay Himelfarb and his wife, Barbara, of Converse, Texas, his daughter Bari (Himelfarb) Allen and her husband Steve Allen, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, his sister Mitzi Lichtenstein, two grandsons Richard and Kristofer Himelfarb, two great granddaughters Shelby and Alaska Himelfarb and four great grandsons Joshua, Jordan, Nicholas and Brandon Himelfarb, and niece Ellen Lichtenstein.
