Marvin Kristensen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2025.
Marvin Kristensen 83, formerly of Duluth, was promoted to heaven on May 12, 2025 in McGregor MN. Marvin was born in Duluth on February 22, 1942 to Einar and Bertha(Ackerman) Kristensen. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 1960. On July 16, 1961 he married the love of his life, Lois Armstrong and they had 2 children, Dawn and Gary. They lived and worked side by side in the restaurant business in Duluth, MN and Allen/Plano, TX, retiring to Kalispell, MT and eventually moving back to MN.

Aside from spending time with family and friends, Marvin enjoyed boating, fishing, playing his guitars and mandolin, playing cribbage, and wood working. He also enjoyed yard work and gardening...especially growing flowers for Lois. Marvin had a 1955 Chevy truck that he had fun driving and showing at car shows, winning many trophies. Marvin was very much a people person and would chat with just about anyone....sharing stories and getting to know them as well.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Lois, daughter Dawn(Paul) Bruggman, son Gary (Alisa); 6 grandchildren Amanda Bruggman, Miles(Rebekah) Bruggman, Brittany(Manny) Ojeda, Wyatt, Wayne and William Cox; 5 great-grandchildren Lilly and Tunde Obije, Nadine and Zophia Bruggman, and Mat Ojeda; his sisters Alice Johnson and Marjorie Freberg as well as many special nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edwin and Roger and sister Shirley.

A funeral service will be held on June 12, 2025 at the Cremation Society of MN, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN. Visitation at 1:00, service at 2:00 with a reception immediately following.

Interment will be at a later date at Glacier Memorial Cemetery, Kalispell, MT.

Heaven has gained another magnificent angel. I will always cherish the memories of uncle marvin. I remember visiting his house when I was younger, enjoying all his musical instuments and listening to him play. I remember swimmin' in the pool and the hot tub, and I remember going to breakfast at his resturant, and he always knew what I wanted, sausage buscuits and gravy. I love you dearly.

He is in good hands now with those who were called before. He unknowingly helped me through Rheumatic Fever when I was very young. He helped, because my Dr. at the time looked just like him. When I saw that, my fear and anxiety was replaced with peace.

Uncle Marvin was a true treasure and he will be missed until we meet again. I will never forget our trips to Plano as a child and getting to stop in to see Marvin and Lois at the restaurant. Sending the family our love and prayers for comfort.
