Marvin Paul Voss, age 86, passed away peacefully, Tuesday September 16, 2025, at his home in Makanda, IL. Born December 14, 1938, in Red Bud, IL, he was the son of the late Paul and Esther Voss.

Marvin is survived by his devoted wife, Frances E. Voss of Makanda, IL; three daughters with their spouses, Diana (Dwight) Morgan of Denver, CO; Sheri (David) Garascia of Sesser, IL; and Wendy (Jason) Wells of Boston, MA, and his brother and his wife, Edwin (Theresa) Voss of The Villages, FL. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose Logdson, Pauline Allsopp, and Eileen Stone; and his daughter, Paula Dewitt. 

Marvin was a proud member of the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the military, he continued his commitment to public service with a distinguished 23-year career at the Carbondale Police Force, followed by approximately 20 years of dedicated work at the Jackson County Courthouse. He was an active member of both the National Rifle Association and the Egyptian Rifle and Gun Club in Williamson County. Marvin was a car enthusiast who enjoyed working on old cars. Marvin was a good man who will be dearly missed.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. A funeral service will follow the next day, Monday, September 22, at 11:00 a.m., also at Blue Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Marion, IL, in Marvin’s memory.
