Marvin H. Watson

Marvin H. Watson of White Mills, Pa. died Thursday morning at home surrounded by his entire family following an illness. His loving wife of 54 years is the former Gertrude "Gerty" Bartenbach.

Born in Honesdale, Pa., he was the youngest son of Ernest and Elizabeth Utegg Watson and was a graduate of Hawley High School class of 1958. He was a veteran of the Air Force serving in Sembach, Germany, from 1958 to 1962. Prior to retirement, he was the co-founder of Watson Brothers Inc.

What Marvin loved most was spending time with all of his family. He was a devoted local businessman who also enjoyed traveling.

The family would like to thank Ellen Memorial Health Care Center and most recently the entire staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital, especially the ICU and hospice. A special thank you to Annie Swartz, his personal caregiver.

Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle McConnell and her husband, Danny, Beach Lake; sons, Scott and his wife, Fluff; Mark and his wife, Sharon, all of White Mills; grandchildren, Lindsey, Scotty, Alyssa, Mia and Dane Watson, and Elisabeth and Cole McConnell; sisters, Ruth Shaffer, Massena, N.Y.; and Ann Sanderson, Hawley; a brother, James Watson, White Mills; a sister-in-law, Elke Schwarz, Otterberg, Germany; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Watson; and sister-in-law, Jean Watson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen Church, 416 Church St., Honesdale, PA 18431, by the Rev. William J.P. Langan, pastor.

Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, PA 18436. Interment, Indian Orchard, Honesdale.
