Mary Ann Bonsall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2016.
Mary Ann was born in 1936 to her parents, Mabel and Clifford, of Rock Dell, Minnesota.

Upon the death of her mother, she went to live with her grandmother Minnie, eventually relocating to Denver, Colorado.

She attended East High, was married to Willis, then welcomed her son Ron, daughter Sue and son Brad.

Life took Mary Ann to numerous towns in Minnesota, Colorado and Iowa, finally returning to Denver.

She was a loving, devoted mother who enjoyed many years as the church organist, teaching piano lessons, and raising her kids.
After returning to Denver, she met and married Max Bonsall.

She worked as an executive secretary for Schlumberger Oil Well Services for 17 years.

Upon her retirement in 1992, she enjoyed traveling with Max, especially to their favorite location, Las Vegas.

One of her favorite roles was that of Grandma, or 'Gma' as she was known. For the better part of 25 years, you would find her sitting on the sidelines of a soccer or baseball field, or in the stands of a band concert, musical, honor roll induction, art show or graduation. She never missed a moment and always made sure her kids and grandkids knew how proud she was of them.
She thrived in the role of 'GG' and enjoyed her time spent with her 6 great-grand kids.

Mary Ann volunteered at Littleton Adventist Hospital for the past 14 years. While serving as the president of volunteers, she founded The Angel program as a way for volunteers to have more contact with those patients who had limited visitation.

Mary Ann enjoyed time spent with friends, whether bowling, playing cards, or just socializing. It was in one of her bowling leagues that she met Art Thompson. They have spent the past eight and a half years sharing their life together. They enjoyed their frequent trips to Black Hawk, and were able to fulfill her lifelong dream of visiting Norway in the spring of 2011.

We are so thankful for the friends and family who have helped us through this difficult time. Most importantly, the medical professionals at Rose Medical Center who took such wonderful care of Mary Ann in her final year.

She was a feisty spirit who spoke her mind and lived her life with integrity and compassion, and will be dearly missed by many.

Her legacy continues through her loving companion, Art; sons, Ron and Brad (Joonki); daughter, Sue; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Abby (Robin) and Daniel, Tyler (Jenny) and Jonathan, and Katie (Jordan) and Keillor; her brother, Delmar and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mabel, brother, Clifford, husband, Max and son-in-law, Dan.

Mary Ann was a shining star at the front desk at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Her legacy of positivity, friendliness, knowledge, and dedication will continue to live on in those who knew her and worked with her. We are grateful to her loved ones for sharing her with us.

Walking into the hospital on Tuesday mornings and seeing Norma without Mary Ann just doesn't seem right. You are missed, Mary Ann. Love, Gloria

I volunteered with Mary Ann at Littleton Hospital. She was a joy to be around, always smiling, always a kind word for everyone. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family. God Bless.
Love, Sylvia

Mary Ann was a dear friend and like family to me. We talked each week when we worked the front desk at the hospital. During the week we would email each other. I would think of things I wanted to share with her when I would see her on Tuesday mornings. I told her about my cancer before telling my family. We knew each other's kids and grand kids and shared pictures of them. She had a sense of humor and knew the hospital so well and did a great job of running the front desk. We went out for meals with her and Art and enjoyed their company. I miss her hugs and our time together.
I miss you dearly Mary Ann. Love you, Norma
