Mary Ann Evans
(1929-2021)

On February 23, 2021, at the age of 91, Mary Ann passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Chicago on her father's birthday, December 11, 1929, and was the only child of Ann and Art Tesmer. Raised in Chicago, she attended Notre Dame High School and DePaul University. At DePaul, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was voted Miss Personality by her classmates.
During her college years, she enjoyed a brief modeling career before transferring to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she met her husband, Stan Gruen. They married in 1950 and settled in Chicago. In 1956 they relocated to Redondo Beach, California with their toddler son, and welcomed their daughter that same year. In 1968 they moved to Palos Verdes where their children attended school.
Later in life she married David Evans and they enjoyed life
together until his passing in 2009. Stan predeceased her in 2005. Her smile, joyful spirit, memorable laugh, and warm generosity will be remembered and deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter Paula Gruen, son Daniel Gruen (Margaret), and grandchildren Mitchell and Danielle. In keeping with her wishes, services at sea will be private.
