I was very saddened to learn of Mary Ann's passing. She was one the sweetest, most compassionate people I had the honor of knowing and was a guiding influence through my childhood & teen years at First Methodist. I'll always remember her gentle sense of humor, too. My deepest sympathy to Marilyn, Margaret, Bill, Laura and their families. There is a hard working angel newly on staff.

Margaret I am so sorry for your family's loss. Your mother was an inspiration to all who knew her. She sponsored my oldest daughter Rachel while she was going through confirmation at FUMC. She will be sorely missed. I pray for blessings of peace and comfort for and your family during this trying time.

Mary Ann had a wonderful life, and has a wonderful family. She will truly be missed. We had a great time at her 90 year old celebration, and she was still sharp as a tack, and loving as always. When my mom was still alive but living out of state, Mary Ann was the one to keep in touch and check up on her. I will always appreciate that.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary Ann's death. During my 54 years in Lake Charles she was a true friend and Christian.
after the death of Miss Julia Paxton, Mary Ann was dubbed our ""resident saint" and she lived up to the title every day of her life! She will be sorely missed.

My dear friends a great loss to the Lake Charles community but a greater gain to heaven has been gained. I had the pleasure years ago of meeting Mrs Monk when she sat at my table during the course of study Woman at the Well. She provided me with such spiritual and real knowledge of knowing what being at the Well meant. It's truly with sorrow I morn her passing yet I am joyful she will be resting in Jesus loving arms.

We offer condolences and prayers for all she touched and all who will miss her presence here with us.
Our last time to see her, she was downplaying her part in writing the LCHS Alma Mater. She seemed to have a gift at being humble, and elevating your presence.
She will now be with her husband, daughter, and all those who predeceased her. May we all RIP with that knowledge and put our efforts into helping to fulfill her legacy. She heard Jesus's words when He gave us the great commission. She worked as His hands and feet. The best we can do for Mrs. Monk now is to pick up her efforts and grow the Kingdom!

I think I will always carry her voice and her smile with me. To be in Mary Anns presence was inspiring; Such a mighty heart in such a tiny package. I will cherish our memories of time with all of you at Boyce and Mary Anns House. There was always room for one more at the table and in their hearts.
Praying for peace for all of our LA/TX family. Sending love at this most difficult time. A beautiful example of a life well lived is to be celebrated!

Dear Family of Mary Ann, what a privilege it was to serve as her pastor while I served as the senior pastor of First UMC, Lake Charles. I was also privileged to serve as Boyces pastor as well. Maybe God grant you all wisdom, strength and courage as you walk into a future full of precious memories of Mary Ann. What a wonderful and gracious servant of God!!

We spoke today to the Miloski family in New York. They were good friends of Mary Ann when they lived in Lake Charles some years ago. They were very distraught and wanted us to express their deepest condolences to the family in the loss of their dear friend.

What a beautiful angel God has added to his heaven. I remember Mrs Monk forever from First Methodist & her wonderful smile & loving hugs each Sunday morning. She was such a beautiful lady, full of love & grace. How wonderful to have had her for so long. Someone once told me two things that I am remembering at this time: It Its hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember and The greatest gift we can give to those who have gone before us is to live fully in their place. Both of these sentiments are so very true of Mrs Monk. My sincerest condolences to her loving family.
