STOCKTON, CALIF. - Roderick John Bresett, 68, of East Foppiano Lane and formerly of Orange, Vt. passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waterbury on Dec. 24, 1940, he was the son of the late Lionel and Marguerite (Boisvert) Bresett. Loved and cared for by Lester and Flora Bresett.
Roderick (better known as Rod) attended Barre City Schools and Spaulding High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marines; he proudly served his country and his community and was a Barre City firefighter for 21 years. In 2004, he moved to California to be closer to his family.
His memberships include, St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre; Knights of Columbus; Barre Canadian Club; American Legion, Post #10 of Barre; Barre Masonic Granite Lodge #35; Mount Sinai #3 and Barre Council #2.
Among his interests were hunting and fishing; he loved wood working, collecting coins and stamps, and he was an avid NASCAR Fan; but most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include two daughters, DebbraAnn Figone and her husband, Michael; TiffanyJean Cosby and her husband, Bruce; four grandchildren, Eric and Brittany Figone; Courtney and Sierra Alley and one great-grandson, Caleb Michael Figone. He is also survived by his siblings, Dale Safford, Naomi Marsh, Beatrix Clark, Roselyn Houghton, Diane Smith, Mary Moore, Gail Huckins and Chuch Bresett, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also Rod's loving best friends, Louie and Charl Renaud. Rod loved his pet "Brie" (his Britney Spaniel of 12 years.)
He was predeceased by (their love and kindness) three brothers, Dana Bresett and his wife, Darlene; Leonox (Buddy) Bresett and Richard Bresett.
A celebration of Rod's life will be held at the Barre Elk's Lodge #1535 on Jefferson Street on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at Hope Cemetery in Barre.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to: Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, Calif. 95204-1953.
Arrangements are in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.

Debbie and Tiffany,
The loss of a parent is so very difficult. Roddy was fun and lively, I always enjoyed his smile. I'll be remembering him flirting, or joking around with people, my heart goes out to you both and wish you great memories of your Dad.
