Mary Sue Burdick Hough, 69, of Battle Creek, died December 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Mary was born December 2, 1953 in Battle Creek to Harold and Vernida (Misiasz) Burdick. She graduated with her Master's Degree from Western Michigan University and was a social worker for many years in local nursing homes. Mary enjoyed cross-stitching, baking, and managed a local bingo program to support the area's Catholic Schools. She loved spending summers riding around her golf cart at Sandy Pines. When her children were younger, Mary volunteered with the Boy Scouts. She was a member and actively in involved at St. Jerome and St. Ann Catholic Church. Mary is survived by her two children, Nicole (Corey) Johnson and Steve (Chrissy) Hough; grandchildren, Magdalena, Maxwell, Abigail, Chase, and Claire; siblings, Carol (David) Long, Dennis (Beth) Burdick, Monya (Scott) Nintzel, Sandra Burdick, and John Burdick, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Ronald Burdick and Margaret LeClear. Friends will be received Monday, December 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Richland Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Augusta. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Memorial donations may be made to the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I always enjoyed seeing her at Nicki's events over the years. She had such a wonderful smile and positive attitude about life. She will be gravely missed. I will pray a Rosary in her honor tomorrow. Please know that we are with you in spirit. May the Lord grant you peace in your memories of her.
