JESUS MARIA “GUERA” GUTIERREZ MUNOZ, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Born December 31, 1939, in El Paso, Texas, to Sandalia Martinez and Juan Gutierrez, “Guera” lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and joy. Known for her radiant spirit and generous heart, she offered a helping hand to anyone in need and never hesitated to share her strength and kindness.
Guera retired from Sarah Lee Hosiery, where she worked as an inspector, but her true passion was her family. She adored her grandchildren and found comfort and companionship in her cherished four-legged friend, Merry Christmas. Whether she was enjoying a visit to the casino or simply spending time with loved ones, Guera brought laughter and light to every moment.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Gloria Frietze (George) of El Paso, TX, and her four loving sons: Gabriel Munoz (Abby) of Las Cruces, Carlos Munoz (Elva) of Vado, Michael Munoz (Christina) of La Mesa, and David Munoz (Kammy) of Anthony, TX. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Guera was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Gabriel Munoz (August 2011), her infant daughter Sylvia Munoz, all her siblings, and many other cherished family members.
At her request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Inurnment of cremains will follow in a private ceremony at a later date.
Her faith, her laughter, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed—but never forgotten.
