Mary Chapman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 1, 2024.
Mary Chapman, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away surrounded by family on March 28, 2024, in Raleigh, NC, at the age of 81. Mary shared a beautiful and enduring partnership with her husband and best friend, Thomas Chapman, with whom she navigated the journey of life's ups and downs, joys, and challenges for over 60 years.

Born in St. Paul, MN, to Clarence and Ruth Peterson, Mary's legacy is carried on through her devoted children: son Michael (Kathy) Chapman and daughters Christine Wendt and Jennifer (Mike) Duncan. She was a beacon of wisdom, kindness, and support to her grandchildren, Erik Wendt (29), Sam Chapman (21), and Kate Chapman (19), each of whom she adored and cherished deeply. Mary's spirit is also celebrated by her brother, John (Judy) Peterson, with whom she shared the unbreakable bond of siblinghood, filled with memories of laughter, love, and mutual respect.

A breast cancer survivor, Mary's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. Her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and service that will be remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date to honor Mary's remarkable life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Saving Grace Animals for Adoption in Wake Forest, NC, where Mary and Tom met their beloved dog, Ben.

Mary's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will forever live on in the memories shared, the lives she touched, and the love she spread. May her soul rest in peace and may we all find comfort in her memory.

Tom & Family, Our families shared many treasured memories and years together in Auburn, Indiana. I always admired Mary for the wisdom and kindness that was evident in all she did. I also remember all the fine foods she introduced to us. Please accept my condolences, trust in the Lord and may God bless you always.
