Mary Crabtree Obituary
Born in Ridgewood, NJ on April 16, 1942, Kent was the daughter of Charles and Claire Harreys. After graduating from Rosemont College, she soon married Al Crabtree and settled in Charlotte, NC, where she raised her family.
Her passions were history, reading, spending time at Sunset Beach, NC, and indulging in sweet treats. She was a homemaker, as well as a docent at the Hezekiah Alexander House for many years and involved with Friendship Trays. She will be especially remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor that endeared her to family, friends, and strangers alike. She will also be remembered for living her life on her terms and marching to the beat of her own drum.
Kent was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Edward Crabtree and her brothers Lawrence Kent Harreys and Charles William Harreys III. She is survived by her son William Fitzpatrick Crabtree and his wife Elaine; Katherine Crabtree Thames and her husband Dave, and Anne Clarke Crabtree; her grandchildren, Wilson, Ellie and Will; her brother, John Fisher Harreys; her sister-in-law Sandra Harreys; and her nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Sydney, Willie, Corrigan, and Douglas.
A Mass will be said in her honor at St Peter Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC on Monday, July 10th.
