Mary DEMPSEY Obituary
1922 - 2012
Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2012 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Tom Dempsey. Much loved mother of Tom (Barbara), Susan (Brian Long) and Michael (Barbara Pavlic). Very proud Nan of Amy and Kristy Long. Dear sister and best friend of Edith Milner. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff in the Neurosciences Inpatient Unit of the Civic Hospital for the wonderful care Mom received in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

My name is Elaine Asselin (nee Wilson) and my Mom and Dad Len and Marjorie Wilson were friends with your Mom and Dad; Brian,Carol Bruce and myself were so very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a great lady!!
We exchanged Christmas cards for the past 25 years, since I was married. Please accept our deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Regardless of age or illness, losing a loved one always leaves such a scar but you know deep in your heart that this is just what your mother would wish otherwise. Her constant smile should be the candle to light the rest of your days. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known.... apart from you.

Hi Michael, Susan and Tom. Virgina, Norma (Mom) and I we're very sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. Two summers ago, Virginia and I dropped by your mom's and had a nice visit with her. It sure brought back a lot of memories from those days living on Belharie. Again sorry for your.

I was so sad to read about your Mom's recent passing. Please accept my very sincere condolences to you and your entire family. I have some very fond memories of spending many summer days in your recroom at Balharrie drinking cream soda (great choice before our ball games?) and practising our pitching skills. Your mom seemed to be always checking in on us to see if we needed anything OR was she just checking in on us, period? I remember her as a very warm and kind person and one who clearly had a very big job looking after three little rascals like you, Susan and Michael and mostly all on her own. She certainly deserves a lot of credit. My dad who passed away in July 2010 (3 months short of 90) would always tell me whenever he would run into your Mom at the Elmvale Shopping Centre. They would often have a little chat. I'm know that your Mom will be missed dearly by her entire family. She will long be remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Take care Tom.

Tom and Sue; I didn't know your mother personally only your Dad through some basketball games we played as young players against his old timers team but they obviously were great parents and you will find you miss them more than you realize as time passes. I speak from personal experience as both mine are now departed.
It was good to see you Sue at the 50th Hillcrest reunion.
Sorry Tom to have missed you.

Tom, Susan and Michael, our sincere condolences to your family. Sarah still tells us stories of she and Mary walking to school and other adventures they had as young girls. Sarah will miss her but our family now has an angel in heaven looking over Sarah.

Our sincere condolences to your family. We have lived beside Mary for the last 28 years and she has always been a great neighbour. Her smile was infectious. I will always remember her asking me to remove a mouse from her pool. We will miss her but I know she is shining down on us .
