Mary DeSchuiteneer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2023.
On September 28, after a period of illness, heaven gained a beautiful soul. Mary DeSchuiteneer (Luicha), 80, of Auburn, NH, returned to her heavenly home and into the arms of her love, Leo Caron, her daughter, Kelly Upham-Torosian, her parents John Luicha & Marion Luicha (Twombly), as well as her siblings, Marion "Babe" O'Brien, her brother Bill Luicha and countless other family members who departed before her. While we cried here, heaven rejoiced as Mary is once again home.

In this life Mary wore many hats. In her younger years she worked as a cab driver as well as a bartender, most notably at the Cercle National Club. Prior to retirement she owned a ceramics store (Lubud Ceramics), where she taught classes and unleashed her creative talents. Amid all of her life experiences, and hard work, her family was her pride & joy. Family was her greatest achievement and most proud accomplishment. She would loving gaze at the family portrait hanging in her living room and marvel about how all the people and love in the photo started with her. She loved her family fiercely and her love was something you never had to doubt.

She is survived in this life by her son, Tom Upham, his daughters, Meagan & Holly and his grandson, Colton. Her son, Scott Upham, his wife Judy, and their children Adam (Laura) and their son Bodie, Jeremy (Rachael), and Rianna (Jay). Her daughter, Kristi Petri, her husband, Curt and their children, Delaney, Rylen and Jacoby. Her daughter Kate Antonowicz and her children, Mason, Parker and Chase. She is also survived by her daughter Kelly's family, Jesse (Sam) Torosian, and their children, Brayden, Addison, Cohen and Westin. Shaina (Ash) St. Onge, and their children Joseph, Abigail, Jacoby, Lucas, Jewel, Emersyn, Kaisyn. Maryssa Brothers (Patrick) and their family Wyatt and Paislee. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Eileen Luicha, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary loved to laugh and always had a smile for everyone. She had a great sense of humor. She loved Diet Coke, root beer barrels, crossword puzzles, donuts and bingo. She loved playing cribbage, boggle and watching every judge and home improvement show she could find. She loved Christmas and would decorate the house early so she could enjoy it longer. She loved spoiling those she loved in any way she could with outrageous amounts of gifts at Christmas, or through sewing gifts like blankets that she would make for her family as an expression of her love. She had a gentle heart and would give and provide for those she loved by working multiple jobs even when she had nothing herself. She always had a silly dance if she was trying to make someone laugh. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune & would try to solve the puzzle before anyone else.

She loved shopping and spoiling her family. She single handedly kept QVC in business in the early 2000s! She loved traveling and spent a lot of time visiting her family in Arizona.

She passed away peacefully to the noise of life around her. People talking and laughing, kids running around. The sound of her family living life was her music and she departed surrounded by that love.

And as was her call sign for her taxi driving years, this is Mary signing off, six-oh and go.

There will be a burial for Mary at Pine Grove cemetery (481 Calef Rd. Manchester, NH) on 10/21 at 10 am. Please meet at the north entrance and we will have a procession to her grave.
Her celebration of life will immediately follow at the Auburn Pitts Bar & Grill (167 Rockingham Rd. Auburn, NH). Please feel free to attend the celebration even if you cannot make the burial. We expect to arrive there by 11:15. We hope you can attend and look forward to celebrating Mary's life with stories, laughter & food.
