Mary DiBernardi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 28 to Jul. 29, 2022.
Our beautiful mother, Mary Ann DiBernardi, a longtime resident of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022, after a courageous battle with dementia. During the end stages of dementia, she was compassionately cared for by the wonderful staff at Shady Oaks in Bristol, CT. Mary Ann was 80 years old.

Mary Ann was born in Meriden, CT, on March 15, 1942, and was the only child of the late Andrew and Wanda (Skok) Zaharavich. She married Ronald Marquis, Sr., in 1960 and had two children, Ronald Marquis, Jr., and the late Danielle Marquis. Mary Ann remarried Frank DiBernardi and had one daughter, Ann (DiBernardi) Murillo, in 1965.

After Mary Ann graduated from Meriden High School, she was employed by International Silver for many years. She then began work at Connecticut Centerless Grinding until retirement. Mary Ann is best known for her kindness and loving heart. She loved traveling and never met a stranger.

Mary Ann was loved by her family, friends, and co-workers. She was enthusiastic about celebrating and decorating for all holidays. She enjoyed sending out birthday cards to her friends and family while making any occasion a celebration. Even in her later years, she was known for her vibrant energy and get-up-and-go personality. She could be described as a social butterfly. It would be remiss not to mention that her grandson lovingly called her and her friends the "golden girls."

She is survived by her children, son, Ron and Kim Marquis of Knoxville, TN, and their children, Leslie Marquis and life partner, Billie Matthews, and great-grandchild, Cali Marquis of Sunbright, TN, Brendon and Heather Marquis of Knoxville, TN, and Shelley Marquis of Austin, TX; daughter, Ann Murillo and her children, step-son, Louis and Elizabeth Murillo, grandchildren, Leo and Emerson of Harrisburg, PA, and Zack Murillo and girlfriend Isabella Russo of Boston, MA.

Services will be held on July 29, 2022, with a calling hour from 3:00- 3:30 pm with the Memorial Service starting at 3:30 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT 06489. A graveside service to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Southington. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was the "best newspaper delivery person" we had ( On Lincoln St.) She was always smiling.
