Leon J. Santilli, 92, of Hamilton, passed away into the arms of Jesus and his Blessed Mother at his home on Thursday, August 25, 2022. His loving wife and her son were by his side.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Leon was a lifelong area resident. After attending Trenton High School, Mr. Santilli served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1952 as an MP, with the rank of PFC-1st class. He served during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from serving his country, Leon was employed with the Trenton Fire Department for 27 years. He served with Ladder #2 before retiring on February 1, 1988. Mr. Santilli loved his duties. Being a firefighter was close to his heart. He had a strong bond with all his firefighting buddies, especially Richard Green and Ronald Hubscher, Sr. Mr. Santilli also worked for Slatoff Auctions for many years.
Mr. Santilli was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows parish. Above all else he loved his family and his dog, Onyx, who had a special place in his heart.
Predeceased by his parents, Amletto and Elizabeth Santilli; his first wife, Ida Santilli; his son, Stephen P. Santilli; his brother, Thomas Santilli; and his sisters, Helen and Iola Santilli; he is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Santilli; his daughter, Janet Gavenda and her husband, Michael; his step-sons, Eric Di Cesare and Vincent Di Cesare and his wife, Stacy; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Santilli; his granddaughters, Jamie Gavenda Da Rocha and Christina Di Cesare; his great-granddaughter, Makenzie Da Rocha; his sisters, Frances Koreyva and Mary Dimon; and his several nieces and nephews.
The Santilli Family extend a special thank you to Dr. Kal Rabadi, Mercer County Cardiology and Serenity Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Santilli.
Private cremation and interment services are under the direction of the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
