Gregory David Meeker

AVON PARK, FLA. - Gregory David Meeker, beloved son of Candice and Kerry Meeker of Avon Park, died as the result of an automobile accident on Jan. 17, 2013.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1977 in Silver Spring, Md. While a student in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district in central New York State, Greg was active in the Boy Scouts. He earned many awards and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1994. He was fascinated by computers from an early age and that was his passion throughout his short but accomplished life.
Greg graduated from VVS High School in 1996 where he was named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Scholar. He attended SUNY at New Paltz and had recently begun taking classes at SFSC to finish his degree. He loved learning and read voraciously. In between his schooling, Gregory lived and worked in California's Silicon Valley before settling in Florida. Greg had a brilliant mind and a gentle soul. All who knew him enjoyed his wit and wisdom and feel our loss. He was a good man.
Greg leaves behind his parents, his loving sister, Lisa Beatty and her children, Amelia, Pierce and Finn. Greg is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins and dear friends. Greg's internet contacts stretched worldwide through his gaming interests.
There will be a celebration of Gregory's life on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 from 3-5 p.m. at the Sebring Civic Center at 351 W. Center Street, Sebring, Fla. All friends and family are cordially invited. If you wish to make a donation in Greg's memory, please consider the following.
