POCAHONTAS, Va. — Mary (Peasie) Franklin, 69, of PO Box 204 Pocahontas, Va. died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Tazewell Community Hospital, Tazewell, Va. Born in Tazewell County, Va. she was the daughter of the late William Henry Franklin and Myrtle Jane Bailey Franklin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jesus Church of Big Vain, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Dunford, one son Danny Hart, three brothers, Lenis, Junior and Swannie Franklin. Survivors: Two daughters, Anna Marie Pifer and husband Thomas of Virginia Beach, Va., Tammy Sue Lafta and husband David of Mocksville, N.C.; one son, Jimmie Dean Hart and wife Tammy of Mocksville, N.C.; three sisters, Edna Neice and husband Swanson of Bluefield, Va., Marie Brumfield, Pembroke, Va., Lorraine Brown of Frankford, Ky.; one brother, James Franklin of Springfield, Va.; companion, Mike Byrd; six grandchildren; two gre at-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Pocahontas Funeral Home, Pocahontas, Va. with the Rev. William Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Annie, Tammy and Jimmy I am sorry mom and I could not be there. She is still in the nursing home and I can't leave her and go out of town very often. I also am working 40-50 hours a week. God bless all of you.
