Mary FRANKS Obituary

Published by Windsor Star from Jan. 24 to Jan. 26, 2012.
FRANKS, Mary Anne (nee Johnson)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Anne Franks (nee Johnson) at the Mennonite Long Term Care Home on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 77 years of age after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the cherished wife and best friend to Donald for 56 years, loving mother to Karen Dault (Robert) and much adored grandmother to Katie Carther. She is survived by niece Carolyn Anne Lamont. Predeceased by parents Harry and Beatrice Johnson and sister Freida Lamont. Mary Anne will be sadly missed by dear friends Eileen and George, Mary and Bob and Brenda. Mary Anne, a talented artist, was well known for her beautiful water colour paintings of nature. After she retired from her teaching career, she continued to teach people ranging in age from 8 to 80 art lessons. She was also heavily involved with the Leamington Art Gallery in the early years. Mary Anne loved to take long walks up north and through Point Pelee to watch the birds and look for scenes for future paintings. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Mennonite Long Term Care Home for their excellent care and continued Kindness to Mary Anne. Special thanks also go to aides Catherine McCrum and Gisele Simpson for their efforts to make Mary Anne's last days pleasant. Cremation has taken place in Windsor. Friends will be received for time of visitation at the
C. Stuart Sykes Funeral Home,
91 Division St. S., Kingsville
on January 27 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday January 28 at 11:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Mennonite Continuing Care Home. Condolences may be left at:
