Mary Hale Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 17 to Jan. 26, 2023.
Mary Ann (Honerkamp) Hale passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and her son, Mick (WA)

Mary Ann was born 1935 in Bonne Terre, MO to Joseph Alvin and Annabelle (Fink) Honerkamp.

She was the eldest of eleven children and is survived by three brothers, Kenny of Springfield, MO, Gary and Ron(Karen) of Farmington, MO.

Mary Ann was raised in Farmington, MO and was a popular and scrappy champion volleyball player. At age 22, she traveled to San Francisco, CA and worked as a telephone operator. She enjoyed California immensely and met Frank in 1956. They eloped to Reno, NV in 1958 and In 1964 returned to Missouri to raise six children.

Mary Ann's surviving children are Dan Hale (AR) Teri Hale(CT) Kathy (Hale) Doby(TX) Debbie Hale(OH) and Leslie (Hale) Jordan(MO).

Mary Ann is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann worked in Medical Records at Farmington Community Hospital from 1974-2002. She enjoyed baking, coffee, chain smoking and rummage sales.

Mary traveled to Connecticut in March 2022 and resided in Hebrew Home, West Hartford CT until her death. Her environment was safe and her care compassionate.

Although she could be contentious, Mary Ann endeared herself, holding and talking to her "babies,"for hours. Although unable to recognize others, she was keenly aware of her surroundings and often wheeled into rooms, picking up items like she was at a tag sale. She and other residents often competed for the "best" deal. Her laugh was as infectious as her profanity prodigious.

Mary Ann died gracefully in her sleep with a baby at her side. She will be be interred at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO. No date has been set.
