Hilton: December 3, 2014, age 70. Mary passed in the comfort of her family members to Heaven's gate after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Edward (Emma) Lamberson. Survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Bryan & Michael Hilts; daughter, Karen (Andrew) Lewand; her brothers, David (Nancy), Robert (Elaine), Brian (Debra) Lamberson; grandchildren, David Hilts & Emma and Evan Lewand; brothers-in-law, William & Thomas Hilts, David (Lucille) Hilts; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary was a talented High School Athlete earning the respect of her peers in the sports community of Herkimer County. Mary solicited the support of a fellow athlete to help advocate for girls equality in sports. Although Mary could have accomplished this task alone Frank could not refuse her request. Thus became a wonderful 50 years of history together. Mary retired from the Hilton School System and shared precious times with special friends at the bar at Hilts's and the cabin on the mountain at Keuka.

Family and friends are invited to greet Mary's family on Mon. from 5-7 at the THOMAS E. BURGER FUNERAL HOME, 735 East Ave., Hilton. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tues. 11:30 at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave., Rochester. In lieu of flowers please support Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Rd. S., Rochester, NY 14623 in Mary's memory.

Sad to hear of Mary's passing.....I enjoyed working with her at the Hilton district years ago and knew she was battling for quite awhile. My sincerest condolences to Frank and the rest of her family.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I still can remember Mary carrying me on her shoulders up the Dolgeville School Hill for cheerleading practice. She was a special person.
