Mary Kerslake Obituary

KERSLAKE-Mary Jean Kerslake, nee Henderson, passed away on November 17, 2007 at the Kipling Memorial Health Centre. She was born at Foxdale, SK on July 28th, 1922 to Winnifred (nee Furlong) and John Henderson. When Mary Jean was eleven years old, she made her choice to serve God. This decision has been a guided influence all her life. She attended school at Foxdale and later worked in Tomkins, SK for her Uncle and Aunt, Dan and Ina Stubbs. It was here she met Clarence Kerslake. She married Clarence on January 21st, 1943. Clarence was in the army and they lived in Ontario until the war ended at which time they moved to Franklin, MB where they operated a service station and garage. They lived there for ten years before moving to the farm at Peebles, SK in 1954 where they raised their family and continued to live until now. In April of 1995, Mary Jean suffered a stroke and has had wonderful care as a resident of Kipling Willowdale Lodge. Each Sunday her family brought her home to share in the Sunday Morning Meeting that is in their home. Mary Jean was predeceased by her parents, John and Winnifred, by her brother, Frank, and by her five year old son, Arnold. She was also predeceased by Clarence's parents, George and Laura Kerslake, her brother's-in-law, Wilfred and Walter Kerslake, her sister'sin-law, Lillian Kerslake and Alice Chistman. She leaves to mourn her passing; Clarence, her husband of nearly sixty five years; her daughter Heather and husband Ray Donald of Moosomin, SK and their three children, James (Jelaine), Steven (Jennifer) and Tim; her son Neil and his wife Agnes of Peebles, SK and their three children, Tammy (Shawn) Howden, Terri (Dave) Rajotte, Rebecca (Steven) Walters; and by her son Ken and his wife Trudy of Windthorst, SK and their four children, Robin (Nancy), Pam (Dan) Triska, Bonnie (Shaun) Jordan, Candace (Justin) Cobb; Clarence's sisters, Evelyn Kneeshaw, Gladys (Alvin) Scramstad and brother, Lawrence (Elsie) Kerslake. She also leaves eighteen great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Jean loved gardening, spending time with her family and friends and traveling and will be missed by all. The funeral service will be held in the Windthorst Community Hall, Windthorst, Sask., on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., with Lyle Schultz, Scott McChesney and Mary Roper officiating. Interment in the Windthorst Cemetery. If friends so desire contributions to the Kipling Health Foundation, Box 989, Kipling, Sask., S0G 2S0 may be tokens of remembrance.

To Clarence,Heather, Neil, Ken and Families,
Sorry to hear of Jean's passing. Well we remember you folks in our younger years. We enjoyed many good times together which are now fond memories. On Friday we will be thinking of you gathered in the Windthorst Hall.
