MARY ELLEN (HACHMEIER) KLEINSCHMIDT, 87, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Parkview Hospital. Born Aug. 14, 1925, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Arthur L. Hachmeier and Bernadine T. (Woenker) Hachmeier. She graduated from Central High School. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for the City of Fort Wayne for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 47 in Fort Wayne, and Fort Wayne Turners Club. Surviving are her sons, Steve L. (Carla) Kleinschmidt and Bob L. (Jan), both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kari (Tim) Nolan, Kyle Kleinschmidt, Chad Kleinschmidt, and Megan (Brad) Koenemann; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ervin "Erv", in 2005; and one brother, Bud. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Theodore Taykowski officiating. Calling also from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside service is Saturday in the chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Fort Wayne Turners Club.

I was so sad to learn of your mother's passing. She was one of the first people I met when I was introduced into the Gephart family, and she quickly became one of my favorites. She was always such a livewire, and I loved her infectious laughter. She and your dad were such wonderful friends with Claude and Dorothy. I remember her being such a loyal member of the Turners, and I don't think I was ever there that she wasn't there also. She was always so proud of all of you and kept us posted on the happenings of her kids and grandkids. I know you will all miss her terribly, but what memories she left you with! My sincere and deepest sympathy to all of you at this sad time.
