Mary Kuntz

Mary Ann Kuntz, age 73, of Dent, MN, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She loved life and led it to the fullest. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2006, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, MN, with Reverend Marilyn Breckenridge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 19 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and also one hour prior to services at the church.



Mary Ann (Rice) Kuntz was born August 12, 1933, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Harvey and Elfie (Aronson) Rice. She grew up in Doyon, ND, and graduated in 1951. Mary attended Mayville State Teachers College to obtain her teaching certificate. She married Michael P. Kuntz on April 11, 1953, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Doyon.



Mary taught school in Clifford, ND; Mayville, ND; Leeds, ND; Greenbush, MN; Ada, MN; and Jackson Area Vocational School in Jackson, MN. After retiring in 1998 she and Mike moved to a lake home on West McDonald Lake near Dent, MN.



She cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of their accomplishments. When the grandkids were around she just beamed. She was the number one cheerleader at their many sporting activities.



Mary enjoyed baking, especially rolls and Christmas goodies. She was a natural at visioning design and decorating. She loved to read and did daily crossword puzzles. Mary enjoyed decorating shows and cheering on the Twins and Vikings.



During her retirement she enjoyed painting and taught herself rosemaling. She loved the lake and would watch the beautiful sunsets and lake activity from the sunroom. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her sister and brother-in-law at the lake. Her voice and her touch are gone but her vision and lust for life live on in our memories and heart.



Mary is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mike, Dent, MN; two daughters, Michelle (Bruce) Link, Bismarck, ND; and Lisa (Jeff) Molenaar, Eden Prairie, MN; one son, Michael Wayne (Barb) Kuntz, Eden Prairie, MN; sister, Adele (Gordon) Spidahl, Dent, MN; sister-in-law, Merillyn Rice, West Fargo, ND; two aunts, Gen Aronson, Doyon, ND; and Beatrice Aronson, Crary, ND; six grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, and Carly Molenaar; Sarah and Meghan Kuntz; and Kyrie Ann Link; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.



Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Wayne Rice.
