KURKJIAN, Mary V. Age 66, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully April 30, 2021 after a long illness while holding the hand of her beloved husband of 31 years, Stephen P. Hamm. Predeceased by parents Alice W. (Anhalt) and George A. Kurkjian. Loving sister to Jane K. Riley of Annapolis, MD, Thomas G. Kurkjian of La Jolla, CA, and Donald P. Kurkjian of Richland, WA. Also survived by 16 cherished nieces and nephews and their children. Mary was born at Ft. Monmouth, NJ, lived around the world in an Army family, and was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She was devoted to making government work during her career leading management and technology teams in 44 states. Mary loved to hike in the mountains, scuba dive in the Caribbean, travel the world, cheer for the Red Sox, improve everything she touched, and most importantly spend time with her family and friends. Mary's energy, spirit, determination, discipline, and good humor throughout her 4 year battle with glioblastoma cancer was astonishing. Funeral arrangements to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute at Northwestern University or the Mary V. Anne & I were saddened to learn of Mary’s passing. Mary’s qualities that were listed in the obituary: energy, spirit, determination, disapline and good humor, were evident throughout Mary’s life. We saw them when she and Steve visited us on Cape Cod almost two years ago. Steve, please let us know when you are in the Northeast.
