Mary Ann Ledvina, 89, of Chelsea passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama surrounded by her family after a recent short illness.Mary was born Dec. 3, 1919 in Chelsea to Charles A. and Lottie A. (Zeman) Hayek. She married Lester G. Ledvina on Aug. 15, 1943 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. The two resided on a farm west of Chelsea until Lester's death on April 15, 1982.Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and attended the Chelsea United Methodist Church.Mary loved to dance and had many friends from attending dances around the state, loved watching birds and living her life on the family farm.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lottie (Zeman) Hayek, her husband Lester Ledvina and a special aunt, Ruth Peterson.She is survived by her children; Sandra (Allan) Atchison of Toledo, Iowa, Shirlee (Mike) Papesh of Conway, Ark., Bonnie (Jeff) VanDoorvevelt of Moore, S.C. and Barbara (Jeff) Willier of Centerville; three grandchildren, Lisa Atchison, Jeff (Jenni) Atchison and Brenton Willier and one great-grandson, Carter Atchison.She is also survived by special love, Bill Robinson and longtime dedicated worker and family friend, George DolashFuneral services will be held today at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery in Vining. A visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.A memorial fund has been established.
