SCRIBNER - A memorial service for Mary Margaret Reitmeier, 81, of Scribner will be 2 p.m. Monday at United Church of Christ in Scribner. She died Thursday, April 4, 1996, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont. Mary Margaret Betten was born April 16, 1914, in Garneill, Mont. She graduated from high school in 1933, in Reardan, Wash. She also attended Cheney Normal School in Cheney, Wash., the University of Montana at Missoula, Morningside College in Sioux City, lowa, the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, and received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1969. She married William Reitmeier Aug. 3, 1941, in Spokane, Wash. She was a special education teacher in Turin, Iowa, taught third grade in York, taught kindergarten in Ames and taught kindergarten and remedial reading in Hooper. She retired in 1979. In 1979, she and her husband were appointed to pastor a tourist congregation at Iglesia Cristiana in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She had been a resident of Scribner since 1971. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Scribner. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. William Reitmeier; two daughters, Wendy Reitmeier of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ruth Reitmeier of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and two brothers, Dr. Paul Betten of San Jose, Calif., and Carl Betten of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Browning. The Rev. Kenneth Saunders will officiate Monday's service. There will be no visitation. The body was donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for Medical Research. Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner was in charge of arrangements.
