Dear Clarence and Family
I just learned of Mary's passing. Heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Mary and I were colleagues at St. Francis of Assisi school in Orleans. She was a great lady who always greeted you with a smile. We shared many laughs and stories together. She was so very proud of her family and spoke of you all often.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
She will be missed.

As Mary's "baby" sister, while I had the chance to be with her in her final hours, I want to post how I am deeply saddened by her passing. I will always remember how Jane (our other sister) and I would crawl into bed with her at nite when we were young and giggle until our dad came in to break the party up; how I tagged along with her and her girl friends when she had to look after me, going to The Royal Burger drive through on Bank St.; how she took me on the bus to dentist appointments; when I watched her get ready for a night out as she did her hair and makeup. I was in awe of her beauty. I wanted to be just like her, Through the years, as she married and had children, she continued to look out for her little sisters Jane and me. She was the best big sister anyone could ask for; always there for us. She loved her own children with all her heart. I remember so many times visiting. There was always fun and laughter as she fed her babies, combed their hair and changed their diapers. She delighted in her life as a Mom and wife to Clarence. I know too what a dedicated teacher she was as I often found her pouring over papers to mark. She cared for each and every student. Her smile was infectious and her care and love for everyone served as a wonderful role model for me. She left this world far too early. I miss her and I will cherish her and what she gave. She lives on in us. I know that I carry her tenderly and gratefully with me.

As I reflect on my thoughts of Mary I see her in so many different lights, I see the teacher that welcomed me into my new community as I went from being a student in Ottawa to a student in a close knit small town and was looked at as an outsider, her great smile always made me feel so protected in my new surroundings, I was fortunate enough to have her as my teacher as so many of us were including my younger brother. I see her as a mother to Chris, Matt & Jen and how much love and pride she had in them. I see her as a wife and partner to Clarence as I progressed into adulthood and would see her and Clarence in social settings. I find myself really sad as I find out about her passing as she had a big influence in my transition into my new life with my new father and town may she rest in eternal peace. She will forever be in your hearts.....
With Love

Dear Clarence and family,
It is with great sadness that I learned of Mary's passing. I am reminded of how warm and welcoming she was to me when I arrived at St. Catherine's school. She had such a huge heart, delightful smile and was so dedicated to her students - my daughter, Shauna, being so lucky to have her as a teacher. We had such good times at parties at your country property. May your wonderful memories of her help through this tough time,

I am so sad to hear that Mary has died, she made me so welcome during my time in Ottawa as a very young mothers help, she was a vibrant fun loving hippy chick and a very kind person, I had the pleasure to call her friend, visited her later in like around 1996 I think, will always have a special place in my heart for her.

Dear Clarence, Chris, Matt, andJennifer, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Mary was the one who kept us all going at St. Catherine's and at Carfeton. She could bring a smile out of any of us and her constant positivity gave us a goal to attempt to imitate. Both my girls, Christienne and Alexandra, were lucky enough to have Mary as their teacher. I will have you all in my prayers today. Marg Simpson (Metcalfe)

Dear Mr. McNulty,
I am so sorry to read of your lovely wife's passing. she is clear in my memory from so many years ago when she helped you steer we unruly, appalling and exuberant students around the Mediterranean on Nepean High School's cruise of 1973-4ish. I've no idea how she and you put up with us but she was grand.
I have hugely fond memories of your classes too of course, you drummed a good bit of knowledge and English into our thick heads with excellent good humour.
My sincere sympathies to you and your family for your loss.

Uncle Clarence, Chris & Laurie, Matt, Jennifer, Mike & Olive and the Martin family,
May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate the beautiful person Aunt Mary was - both inside and out.
I have so many happy childhood memories of time spent at the house on 31 and the one in Metcalfe. My mom and I had a lovely visit with Aunt Mary not too long ago, we shared stories - mostly "Bill stories" and had some laughs. I'm grateful for that visit. In hindsight, I am happy that I defied the nurses and brought her the chocolate cake!
As the days and weeks pass, and you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends and the knowledge that your mum was loved and will be remembered.
Looking forward to seeing all of you in July.
