Mary Medina Medrano, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Mary was born on May 5, 1925 to Jose and Anita Medina in Del Mar, California. Mary was an Honors graduate from San Diegito High School in 1943. Mary answered the call of duty and went to work at the Douglas Aircraft Co. in Long Beach, California where she helped assemble aircraft during WWII. While on her way to Sunday Mass, she met the love of her life and a year later would marry U.S. Marine Salvador S. Medrano. Mary was an active member of the Oak Park PTA. She loved to sew, cook and bake. She was also a volunteer at Driscoll Children's Hospital in the Oncology Department where she would translate Spanish to English. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Salvador S. Medrano, and sisters Belen Lara and Elvira Lopez.

Mary is survived by her ten children; Dickie (Sylvia) Medrano, Linda (Lee) Stevenson, Lorrain Turner, Yolanda Halimi (Earl Alford), Mary Ann (Bob) Mataxes, Roland (Irma) Medrano, Becky (Steve) Vandermulen, John Medrano, Terry (Sean) Babahmadi, and David Medrano; 21 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren and her brother Chewy Medina.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, with a Rosary to be recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne Street.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Hesse as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Corpus Christi at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
