She was born on Feb. 21, 1934, at the Red Bank Indian Reservation in New Brunswick, Canada.
Mary grew up in Clinton, with her sister Margaret "Maggie" Languet, the children of Lawrence and Mary (Peter-Paul) Noel of New Brunswick.
After graduating from Clinton High School in 1952, she found herself in Amite, La., where she met and later married James S. Mixon Jr. on Feb. 5, 1959. They had three children together. However, their union was short-lived, because James died on Oct. 12, 1963.
Mom came back to Maine and her family to raise us children. She became an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and had many grand times with her friend Marion Gleason. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and cooking scrumptious meals with her family. She also loved taking us kids to China Lake and the coast. She was very creative and had a keen sense of humor. She was a friend of Bill W. and was feisty to the end.
She was predeceased by sister Maggie Languet of Winslow; and her great-grandson Sydney J. Boynton of Fairfield. She is survived by daughters Margaret A. Boynton of Waterville, and A. Carole Mixon of Cadwell, Ga.; and a son, James S. Mixon, of Nashua, N.H. She also leaves grandchildren Jessica E. Turner of Skowhegan, Jaime L. Fagan and husband Chris of Bedford, N.H., Salina M. Young of Skowhegan, Bridget L. Dorval and husband Jacob of Odenton, Md., and Ryan J. Mixon of Sanboron, N.H. Her great-grandchildren are Daniel J.F. Turner, Lorelai L. Rice and Anthony M. Peace. She will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews, as well as her Micmac relations in the United States and Canada.
There will be no visitation hours or funeral service. A private ceremony at the convenience of the family will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in her memory to a scholarship fund set up per her request by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in care of M. Boynton, 16 Percival Court, Apt. 1, Waterville, ME 04901.
Special thanks go to the staff of Redington-Fairview, Cedar-Ridge and EMMC.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
