Mrs. Mary Veronica Monte

Mary V. Monte, died after a long illness with cancer at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT., on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the age of 89, long time resident of Guilford. She was a devoted wife of nearly 61 years to Charles P. Monte Jr., who predeceased her in March of this year. She worked at the Winchester Gun Company, New Haven, CT and Chesebrough Ponds, Clinton, CT. for a period of time before she devoted the remainder of her life as a housewife maintaining a home and caring for her seven children. She was the daughter of Walter & Louise Los, who were originally from Poland. Mary was born in Enfield, CT., May 26, 1921. She leaves behind 6 children, Barbara Monte of Tehachapi, CA; Patricia Aronson (Stanley) of Killingworth, CT.; Linda Monte (Evelyn) of MD.; Mary Sanderlin (Charles) of Branford, CT.; Constance Monte (John) of Madison, CT.; Robert Monte of San Francisco, CA., her daughter-in-law, Darlene Monte of North Branford, CT., and her stepson Charles Monte III, who predeceased her in 2007; and 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She has one surviving brother, Stanley Los (Gillian) of Burbank, CA. She was predeceased by four sisters, Rose Los, Lucy Malone (Cleveland), Helen Rogers (Fred), Sophie Brown (Edward), and three brothers, Thaddeus, Frank (Jean), and Joseph Los. Funeral Services were held at the Guilford Funeral Home on 115 Church Street, Guilford, CT. on Wednesday, Sept 8 th.
