Mary Lou Moreland

Mary Lou (Harrison) Moreland, 97, of Zionsville, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the Wellbrooke of Avon. Mary was born on October 9, 1926 in Indianapolis to Thomas and Marie Harrison. After completing school, Mary was vital to the war effort for World War II by working at Continental Optical Company and grinding the optical lenses used in United States Army Air Forces bombers. She also worked for Dow Chemical prior to her retirement. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association. Mary was a hard worker, but was also an exceptional mother and grandmother.

Mary is survived by her sons: Mike (Patti) Moreland and Mark (Becky) Moreland; grandchildren: Kristie Heilers, Kasey Moreland, Stephanie M. Moreland, Mark T. Moreland, II, and Daniel J. Moreland; eleven great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert A. Moreland, and siblings: Tom Harrison, Bill Harrison, Marion "Jean" Beck, Joy "Dee" Plunkett, and Sarah Ann "Sally" Slater.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 125 West Sycamore St. Zionsville. Entombment will follow in Lincoln Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Zionsville American Legion Post 79.
