Mary Joan MUIR

MARY JOAN MUIR December 10, 1927 - January 11, 2019 Mary Joan Muir, beloved mother of Carolyn (Jack) Shyba and James (Joanne), passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Mary Joan is also survived by her much cherished grandchildren, Kassandra and Madelyn Shyba; and Grace, Justin and Allyson Muir. She also leaves behind her sister, Lenore Young of Bracebridge, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Muir on October 19, 2011. Mary Joan was born to George and Florence King in Galt, Ontario and received her Bachelor of Library Science from the University of Toronto in 1951. She married Don in 1954 and they lived in Montreal, PQ; Prince Rupert, BC; Vancouver, BC; and Rumford, Maine. The family moved to Calgary in 1973. Mary Joan was a very active member of her church, taking on many roles within the United Church and Presbytery. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary).
