Mary Orfanidis Obituary
Mary Orfanidis, 89 of Bergenfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 15 surrounded by her loved ones. Born and raised in New York City, she resided in Bergenfield for over 66 years while raising her family. She is predeceased by her husband Kosta "Gus" in 1973. She is survived by her children Elizabeth (William) Jaeger of Bergenfield and Nicholas (Allison) Orfanidis of Jacksonville, FL., her brother Louis Pappas of Highland, NY, four grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas Orfanidis, Danielle Orfanidis, Eric Jaeger, and David Jaeger, and one great grandson, Zachary Orfanidis. Mary worked at the Marindus Co. in Englewood as an office manager for over 30 years. Along with her husband, she also owned several luncheonettes including the Silver Spoon in Bergenfield. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 18, from 2 -4 and 7-9 at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, at 10am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 467 Grandview Ave., Wyckoff. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Villa Marie Claire, 12 W. Saddle River Rd., Saddle River, NJ 07458. Send a lasting condolence at riewertsmemorialhome.com.

Aunt Mary was such a wonderful lady...You could always count on her delightful demeanor and I always loved seeing her at my aunt's house which was quite often while I was growing up..They were such close friends and enjoyed each others company...She was an amazing cook and even better baker...She was kind and caring...Our thoughts go out to you all...She will be missed by all...Love, Mark & Donna Sherry and Jessica

This year marks 41 years I know Mary O, my best friends mom, being so young when I lost my mom, sometimes we meet special people who become like a 2nd mom. That's Mary O, I was so fortunate to get to know her, and love her. She was such a strong, determined, independent woman, and without knowing it she taught me to be the same. We shared quiet talks and loud laughs through the years. She was my cookie queen. She baked and cooked like a champ and always made sure there was a plate of them for me. I feel so honored she included me in her circle of family. I will miss her, but know she is at peace with her loved ones from above!!!! Rest well Mary O and thank you for being you in my life.
