PALS, Mary Marguerite (Dick)
Peacefully, at the age of 93 years, on May 3, 2012 in Kitchener Ontario. Mary was born on January 13, 1919 in Montreal, the only child of William and Frederica (Bourbonnais) Dick. At the young age of 11, Mary was predeceased by her mother, Frederica. William later went on to marry Olive (Saunders) Dick. Olive was a wonderful mother to Mary, and likely contributed to Mary's lively sense of humour. Mary attended a bilingual business college and eventually worked for the CNR as a telephone operator. Mary then was sent to Ottawa by CNR to be trained as a telegraph operator. When living in Ottawa she joined the Ottawa Choral Society where she met her future husband, Vaudrey . On June 9, 1951, Mary married Vaudrey Pals at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Easton's Corners, Ontario. Mary and Vaudrey spent all their 46 married years living in Ottawa. Mary is survived by her daughters Suzanne Pals of Kitchener, Ontario, Elizabeth (Mark) Johnston of Burlington, Ontario, grandchildren Fran Pals- Horne, David (Katrina) Johnston, Chris Johnston, Deanna Johnston and great- grandchildren Amberlynn Johnston, Sadie Johnston. Mary is also survived and will be sadly missed by many life-long friends. The family extends its deepest appreciation to the staff of the Sunnyside Home Long Term Care facility in Kitchener for the wonderful care. Friends may call at the Tubman Funeral Homes' Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd), Nepean on Sunday May 6, 2012 from 1PM to 3PM. The celebration of Mary's life will be held in the Chapel on Sunday May 6, 2012 at 3 PM immediately followed by a reception in Tubman's reception centre. A private interment will be held Monday.
