Mary "Patti" Hoitt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2024.
Mary Patricia "Patti" Hoitt (Rose) of Plymouth, MA passed away at age 75 with her family by her side on Saturday April 20, 2024.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bob, of Plymouth. She is also survived by her 3 sons Rob Hoitt and his wife Danielle of Plainville, Jim Hoitt and his wife Kate of Acton, and Bill Hoitt and his wife Nicole of Marshfield, MA; her eight grandchildren Alex, Julianna, Brady, Jackson, Sarah, Dustin, Drew, and Emilee; her siblings Chuck Rose and his wife Margie, of Fayetteville, GA, Inez Rose of Kingston, William Rose and his wife Brenda of Hanover, and Kathy Carlton-Naples and her husband Fred of Manomet.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles G. and Virginia Rose of Hanover, MA.

Patti was born in Boston and grew up in Jamaica Plain and Hanover. She moved to Plymouth in 1970 where she raised her family.

The Hoitt family is at such a loss. Patti was the Sun that shined brightly and filled our world with light, love and life.

She was the matriarch to her family and our guiding light. As a teenager, upon the early illness and passing of her own mother, she was instrumental in raising and caring for her siblings who thought of her as their mother. Her and Bob raised their three busy and successful boys. Over the years, their home remained a safe and open place for various other family and friends in need. Patti and Bob were the essence of a loving dedicated couple that all who knew them looked up to and aspired to be.

The absolute love and focus of her life became her eight grandchildren. She was the "grandchild" whisperer and confidant, and always took time to understand what made each of her beautiful grandchildren unique. She could quickly comfort a crying baby and had such a bond that she often knew more about them than their own parents.

She was everyone's biggest fan and supporter, always with a genuine compliment, and quick to forgive and find the best in you. From her initial diagnosis to it's late stages, she never complained about her misfortune or let the discussion focus on her discomfort or limitations.

Patti loved to laugh and be silly. She was the funniest person in the room, looking for something to laugh about or poke fun of with anyone willing to add in. We can hear her infectious laughter with her sisters and brothers or her boys, beating a joke into the ground. Humor at all times was her super power.

Patti was a beauty, with movie star looks. The long strawberry blonde hair and glowing smile turned heads throughout her life. Everyone in Manomet knew Patti as the warm, friendly and welcoming face for over 30 years at the Backstage Hair Salon (later known as C-Lee's).

Even as the disease progressed and her alignments advanced, what kept her up at night was her interest for her family's well being. Even in the end, she never stopped worrying about all of her kids. She is at peace now.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Patti's life at a future date for family and friends. Please contact the family or leave a condolence message and we will provide more details.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Patti had long beautiful strawberry blond hair and her ability to find an upside and laughter to anything. She had unconditional love for Robbie, Jamie and Biily and they returned her love everyday.
Bob was quiet and reserved but Patti was the opposite and an equal partner.
My heart is broken and I will treasure our memories forever. Patti was a very special person and friend. I will miss her.
