PETERS, Mary Matorian (age 92)
She was born January 1, 1922 and died on September 30, 2014
Mary was the daughter of George and Sylvia Matorian. Both George and Sylvia migrated to America from Armenia during the genocide that was taking place in 1916. Her husband Troy passed away in 1993. Her middle son Martin passed away in 2009. Her brother Charles passed away in 2009. Mary cared for her brother for the last 45 years of his life. He suffered from PTSD after WWII and never recovered.
Mary was born in Washington, DC and was a graduate of Eastern High School. She spent most of her working career at Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Company as a department head. She retired after 30 years at Acacia and went on to live a wonderful life with her husband Troy and her ever expanding family.
Mary is survived by two sons. Robert is the oldest with his wife Fran and Charles her youngest with his wife Lois. There are many grandchildren and great grandchildren and most recently great-great grandchildren. She was blessed with a wonderful family. She attended services at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Silver Spring for almost 65 years. Mary was a faithful member of the Daughters of The King at St. Mary's.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 3820 Aspen Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20906 on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park.
