Mary Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
Mary Ann Reed, born Mary Annie Henderson on December 3, 1938, passed away peacefully at her home in Gibsonton, Florida on July 26, 2025.

Born in Alabama to Hunter and Vena Bell Henderson, Mary Ann grew up in Sylacauga working hard on a farm during her formative years.

In her early 20s, she married Johnny Ray Moore, Sr. Due to his job, they lived all around the country with their base in Monroe, Louisiana.

After divorcing, she finished raising their four children as a single mom in Pensacola, Florida. Mary Ann was truly a stereotypical hairdresser that never met a stranger and talked constantly! She worked as one for over 40 years and didn't stop until 5 years after marrying her second husband, Howell Reed.

Howell and Mary Ann married in 1994, both eventually retired, and lived in many places in Alabama before ending up in their final home in Gibsonton, Florida, a suburb of Tampa. Throughout her life, she was a devout Jehovah's Witness.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, great-granddaughter Hayley, and many siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Michael Jerome Moore (Amy) and Johnny Ray Moore, Jr. (Katie), two daughters Suzanne Rene Ellis and Rebekah Lané Galloway (Jim), twelve grandchildren: Landon, Beth, Lindsey, Michael, Sean, Jarred, Dalton, Jacob, Averi, Alyssa, Claire, and Annie, thirteen great-grandchildren: Shoay, Jaeyde, Zoey, Austin, Addison, Korbin, Desmond, Zayvion, Jaygen, Rinismai, Zacariah, Jiliunna, and Xyla, and many nieces and nephews.

Her entire family is very thankful for the care and compassion of Life Path Hospice. Due to cremation and her wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of sending flowers, feel free to donate to a charity of your choice in memory of Mary Ann.
